Engage Specialists in Their Workflow With GoodRx Provider Mode
By Bansi Nagji, President, Healthcare, GoodRx.

In the late 1990s, a handful of brave pharma marketers started experimenting with the emerging internet to reach and educate their healthcare professional (HCP) customers, using sites like Physicians Online and Medscape to post content taken directly from their products’ detail aids, sometimes called ‘brochureware.’ It was primitive but seemed innovative at the time. Fast forward to today, and it’s clear that providers—and pharma marketers—need more sophisticated digital tools to keep up with the demands of their increasingly challenging jobs.

Enter Provider Mode from GoodRx.

PROVIDER MODE IS AN ACTIONABLE TOOLKIT FOR TODAY’S HCPS

Many HCPs use standard workflows throughout the day to gain efficiencies and align with the technology platforms and other tools that support them in delivering patient care. With this in mind, GoodRx Provider Mode delivers a prescription savings flow co-designed with HCPs, offering faster, more personalized Web experiences that enable providers and their office staff to find the information and tools they need at critical moments of care.

Over the last 16 months, more than 850,000 prescribers have used GoodRx to look up medication prices, prescription discounts, and trusted health information on behalf of their patients. Since it began rolling out with early access for selected HCPs in December 2021, Provider Mode has seen nearly 90% opt-in, and is on the path to becoming one of the largest HCP platforms in the U.S.

REDUCING TIME SPENT ON ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS

As we’ve read in countless news articles about healthcare provider burnout and attrition, HCPs are already short on bandwidth for the activities that matter most to them. In fact, the American Medical Association (AMA) estimates that they spend an average of 15 hours a week trying to provide access to medications for their patients. Having timesaving prescription savings tools enables HCPs to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time focusing on patient care.

“There is an incredible need among healthcare professionals for timesaving tools that help minimize the administrative burden that we face,” said Preeti Parikh, MD, Executive Medical Director at GoodRx. “Doctors want to spend more hours of the day seeing and helping patients, not doing paperwork, and the Provider Mode experience is designed to help us do just that. It puts cost, savings, and healthcare information at our fingertips so we can better help our patients at the point of care and make sure they are getting the treatment they need.”

CONNECTING WITH HCPS AT THE POINT OF PRESCRIBING

With a net promoter score (NPS) of 90 among providers, GoodRx has already established the value it can provide to the HCP community. GoodRx continues to research, reimagine, and redesign the ways it connects patients, providers, and pharma.

Figure 1 shows that HCPs consult the GoodRx platform primarily during the times they are with patients at the point of care, trying to help them overcome access and affordability challenges. This enables marketers to reach high intent prescribers — at scale — at key points during provider and patient journeys. Strategic partnership opportunities within Provider Mode can help providers develop deeper connections with pharma brands so they can access the information and resources they need on demand.

ADDRESSING THE UNIQUE NEEDS OF HCPS AND THEIR PATIENTS

GoodRx recently announced a collaboration with Biogen that aims to improve the patient and HCP experience when initiating a new specialty therapy. HCPs who have decided to start patients with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS) on VUMERITY® (diroximel fumarate) may now find and complete the enrollment form and submit it to the specialty hub through Provider Mode.

Similarly, GoodRx is developing an integration with RxVantage that will offer providers the ability to communicate with more than 70,000 pharma representatives within Provider Mode to get answers to questions about new therapies, brand resources, and patient assistance programs.

Additionally, through a planned integration with AssistRx’s iAssist platform, providers will be able to find real-time information about a patients’ insurance coverage, transparent pricing, affordability support, and any details needed to streamline the prior authorization process, which can be lengthy and lead to delays in treatment.

Technology for HCPs has come a long way since the days of dial-up, Web 1.0, and Palm Pilots, yet there are fundamental needs that still have not been fully addressed. GoodRx Provider Mode aims to be a solution that helps HCPs get the job done today, and helps prepare them for tomorrow.
